Architects Specifications Sheet 

 

divISION 10 -- AWNINGS

PART 1 - GENERAL:

1.1 QUALITY ASSURANCE:

A. Design, fabricate and install all work in this section to comply with local Uniform Building Code requirements.

1.2 SUBMITTALS:

A. Before the materials of this section are delivered to the job site, submit complete shop drawings for architect's approval.

B. Accompanying shop drawings, submit 6" x 6" samples of fabric for architect's approval.

C. Furnish complete maintenance instructions for owner's use.

1.3 WARRANTY:

A. Provide 5-year manufacture's fabric replacement warranty against the fabric becoming unserviceable due to loss of color or strength from normal exposure conditions; including sunlight, mildew, rot and atmospheric chemicals.

1.4 FIELD MEASUREMENTS:

A. Verify that field measurements are as indicated on shop drawings.

 

PART 2 - PRODUCTS:

2.1 MANUFACTURER:

A. Pike Awning Company, Portland OR (503) 624-5600.

2.2 FRAMING SYSTEM:

A. Aluminum tube, 6063-TS, square tube to have radial corners.

B. Framing: aluminum tubing with welded joints, shapes as indicated on drawings.

C. Welds: Full penetration, all sides, Grind welds smooth and touch-up with zinc-rich primer.

D. All tube ends to be capped to prevent water & dirt from accumulating.

E. Powder-coat all frame sections. Submit color samples of standard colors to architect for color selection and approval.

F. Provide fasteners as specified on approved shop drawings.

2.3 COVERING MATERIALS:

A. 100% solution dyed acrylic fabric; 9.25 oz. per sq. yard. Color as selected by architect.

B. Awning panels to be fused or hot sealed together in order to maintain a watertight and durable system.

C. Thread to be "Tenara"  By Gortex, the only thread that is warranted for as long as the fabric is.

D. Awning cover to install to frame by lacing using nylon 'zip' ties or braided nylon cord.

 

PART 3 - EXECUTION:

3.1 SURFACE CONDITIONS:

A. Inspect wall substrates/surfaces to verify conditions are acceptable for proper awning installation.

B. Proceed with installation only after discrepancies have been fully resolved.

3.2 INSTALLATION:

A. COVERING:

- Install and secure fabric covers over frame members.

- Stretch fabric taught without creases or folds.

B. FRAMING:

- Install awnings plumb and level, at locations indicated, accurately fitted, free from distortion or defects.
